CALL TO FAST & PRAY FOR THE ECONOMY

And from his fulness have we all received, grace upon grace (John 1:16 RSV).

– God’s grace overflows. His blessing comes one after another.
– We are called to count your blessings, naming them one by one…
– Blessing comes out of God’s fulness of generosity. It’s not because of our actions or goodness.
– It’s because of grace- the unmerited favor of God

Do not lose hope, whatever situation you are in. God has a purpose and he will answer or give you the ability to live with or overcome the situation.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16 RSV)

God’s love for the world went beyond the goal of eternity. He loved the world in its entirety.

Christ came on earth and took up form of flesh because He was concerned about us: Our personality, business, family, economy.

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers (III John 1:2 NKJV).

Nicodemus acknowledged God’s power in everything that happens around. He valued the relationship more than his wisdom and riches.

We are in Christ because of the relationship… beyond the blessings.

The story changes when we connect with Christ. We can not be stopped just like the wind.

We need to look at the economy from a spiritual dimension.

Jesus Christ came in flesh to save the world. He preached beyond going to heaven.

He performed miracles such as feeding the 5,000 (See John 6: 1-14). He was concerned about our daily provisions.

Jesus looked at the health sector. He meet the sick at the market place (Mathew 10: 8). People were oppressed. Jesus healed the sick so as to restore their economic fortune. The healed went away and worked and became productive.

Kenya spends about Ksh. 346Bn on health sector. This attests to the importance that a healthy nation is a prosperous nation.

Jesus paid taxes.

When they had come to Capernaum, those who received the temple tax came to Peter and said, “Does your Teacher not pay the temple tax?” He said, “Yes.” …. (Matthew 17:24‭-‬25 NKJV)

This is the financial sector. We are required to honour our tax obligations so that government can get resources for development.

Jesus honoured the governance structures.

On transport, Jesus calmed the waters at sea. This illustrates need for order in our transport sector.

We can handle our economic matters from a spiritual angle.

1. Economic slavery in Egypt was also spiritual slavery…

The Israelites worked hard but didn’t show any benefit out of it.

Jesus bore the shame so that we have both spiritual freedom and economic prosperity.

2. This is warfare

We are called to be soldiers in God’s army.

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand (Ephesians 6:13 NKJV).

3. Power of Confession

We can not continue cursing our economy, country, business and expect to prosper!

Pray prosperity for the land. Pray for the leaders to make good judgement that will lead to prosperity.

God bless.

Amen
