God was not alone at creation

Let us make man in our own image…. (Genesis 1: 26)

He created several animals and encouraged multiplication. When man was alone he couldn’t multiply. But only after creation of Eve that God empowered them to go out and multiply.

God honours togetherness.

Even at church we need one another to serve and worship.

Worldly politics is all about numbers. But what is the agenda of coming together? How does God take our coming together?

Case 1:

Genesis 11: 1-9 is about building the Tower of Babel.

The people conceived for themselves to build a tower to reach heaven. They were united and determined to achieve their tower for themselves. The self agenda did not please God.

We need to involve God in all our plans to truly succeed. Whenever we come together, involve God in it. Have a proper agenda.

Case 2:

Nehemiah 4 and 6 is about rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem.

He brought others together and prayed to God as the people worked. His intention was good.

You will receive/experience opposition/resistance when doing good. But keep on. Bring others to do good together.

For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:20 NKJV).

Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall by the sword before you (Leviticus 26:8 NKJV)

– Together we are stronger to do exceedingly.

– In isolation, we are prone to attack by the devil.

– There is warmth in fellowship.

The body of Christ is made up of different parts. (1 Corinthians 12: 12-27). These need each other for body to fully function

Which part are you? Are we plugging into our spaces of service. Fullness of parts ensures efficiency in delivery of the Kingdom Agenda.

The appendix/skin may look insignificant but these are very important parts of the body.

Nehemiah 6 is about completion of the wall.

Benefits of being together:

– We overcome discouragement

– Do and complete the assignment

– Encourage one another

Because God was involved in the agenda

We are Better Together at family, church, fellowship

You have a Kingdom Agenda to deliver. Play your part well.

1 Corinthians 12: 12-31

For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ (I Corinthians 12:12 NKJV)

Many parts, one body…

Diversity in parts is needed for the body to function optimally.

God is merciful and just at the sane time. Jesus is king and servant.

God has imprinted in us gifts to serve. What hinders us from using gifts:

  1. Selfishness.
  2. Discrimination
  3. Conflict
  4. Competition- coming from a place of pride and insecurity.

We are called to:

  1. Seek God to use your skills.
  2. Be contented with our capabilities or be secure in your calling.
  3. Play your part fully. Failure to perform strains others
  4. Uplift the seemingly weak amongst you
  5. Look/care after needs of one another.

Calling:

– Be part of a smaller group of accountability. It’s a place for mutual support.

– Be the hands and feet of Jesus

God bless.
