Unchanging God

Scripture : Ezra 5 & 6

5 Then the prophet Haggai and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophets, prophesied to the Jews whowerein Judah and Jerusalem, in the name of the God of Israel,who wasover them.2So Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak[a]rose up and began to build the house of God whichisin Jerusalem; and the prophets of Godwerewith them, helping them.

Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the descendants of the captivity were building the temple of the Lord God of Israel, Ezra 4:1

Then the people of the land tried to discourage the people of Judah. They troubled them in building,5and hired counselors against them to frustrate their purpose all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia. Ezra 4:4

The Enemies of Judah schemed craftily and managed to have the temple work stopped for 14 years. (Ezra 4:1 & 4:4) Their request was granted and the rebuilding of the temple ceased

They had the altar and the tabernacle, worship never ceased as discouraged as they were.

But the unchanging God speaking through prophet Haggai and Zechariah speaks forth that they begin rebuilding the temple.

“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there,
But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
And bread to the eater,
11Soshall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosperin the thingfor which I sent it. Isaiah 55:10-11
